On completing my Nursing Diploma I trained as a critical care nurse in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, followed by Adult General Critical Care and then on to General Practice to start a career in Practice Nursing.
My Practice Nurse role is varied, including telephone triage, chronic disease management, contraceptive/sexual health, childhood/adult/travel vaccinations & general practice nurse duties.
I have completed several university accredited modules whilst working as a Practice Nurse including Practice & Principles of Triage (2008), Contraception & Reproductive Sexual Health (2012), Insulin Management (2013), Diabetes Care (2017).
I hold a full ARTP/BTS certificate in spirometry (2017) of which I’m on the ARTP register to support this in practice.
In the past I completed a certificate in mentorship and continue to mentor/support students in practice.
